GC Adcom

Below is the link to our letter regarding our objection to the ADCOM statement.

GC Adcom Petition

Since submitting this letter, it has recently been widely distributed, hopefully to the encouragement of other church bodies that hold the same conviction. It should be noted that this letter was passed in a church business meeting. Our church is organized with the Biblical model of priesthood of all believers, meaning that the authority in our church rests not in individuals or small groups as in the papal model, but in the body of believers. It is therefore encumbant upon us, not to follow necessarily the dictates of priests and prolates, but our conscience.

You may participate individually by signing this petition.

What is the background of this letter? The history and explanation are well summarized by this statement from SDAPEARL:

“This letter was issued as part of the SDAPEARL movement (see the website: https://sdapearl.com/).

Why would a church write and sign such a letter?

Brief History: in 2009, the Adventist Health department joined with the World Health Organisation for a Global Conference on Health and Lifestyle in Geneva (see: https://interamerica.org/2009/07/potential-adventist-church-who-collaboration-looks-promising-leaders-say/). At that conference, WHO and Adventist Health wrote a statement regarding our beliefs on health and well-being. This statement, which makes no reference to the Bible or the inspired writings of Ellen White, was approved by the conference, then voted on by the GC Executive Committee, and then placed on the official website of our church under BELIEFS (https://gc.adventist.org/official-statements/commitment-to-health-and-healing/). It stated that the church would at all times be seen to be a transparent ally of all entities that agreed with their views on health (which implicitly included the WHO – because they helped to write this statement!!).

The stated hopes of this conference: “Adventist leaders said the church’s international network could help WHO better implement the U.N. Millennium Development Goals” (taken from the NAD article). It was “the first such meeting between WHO and a church denomination.” Then in 2010, the Bill and Melinda gates foundation brought forth the idea of a decade of v*cc!ne collaboration. WHO embraced this and helped to fund the initiative. Countries around the world and all UN associated agencies (including the SDA church which is a NGO of the UN) instituted new laws, policies and statements that would support this initiative. The SDA church’s 2015 imm*n!zation statement was a product of this initiative.

But what on earth has this got to do with prophecy? Well if we are to walk in such lock-step with the UN on this issue, what would prevent that from happening again? Moreover, let us consider one perhaps SIGNIFICANT unknown fact: there are 5 permanent member states of the UN: the U.S. UK, China, France and Russia. Then there is one permanent observer state that has ALL the same rights as the permanent member states except when it comes to voting. Who could that be? Yes – you got it: the Vatican.

So, this SDA church in Oregon wrote a letter to say that they do not accept another supposed source of truth (Peer Reviewed Scientific Literature) to inform their beliefs; that they only accept Sola Scriptura. They did this, because they have chosen to continue the protestant reformation in our church. When man’s words are placed alongside the Bible, it is a recipe for religious persecution/loss of religious liberty…does that sound prophetically familiar?
